Frequently asked questions

What is Palapa Tours?

A 90-minute cruise on a Hawaiian-style floating tiki bar, with up to 12 guests, a licensed captain, a first mate who runs the bar, and your music. Palapa Tours started on the Ottawa River in 2019.

Where can I cruise?

Ottawa (Ottawa River) and Toronto (Toronto Harbour) are sailing now. Victoria’s Inner Harbour opens in summer 2027 and is taking bookings. Montréal and Huatulco, Mexico are coming soon. Pick your city at the top of this page to see times and book.

How much does a cruise cost?

Each city sets its own prices, by day and time. In Ottawa, seats start at $55 and a whole boat at $550; in Victoria, seats start at $70. A private charter always costs the same as 10 tickets.

Can we book the whole boat?

Yes. A private charter gives your group the whole boat, up to 12 guests, for the price of 10 tickets: birthdays, bachelorettes, corporate events, team building and weddings. Where a city has two boats, book both for up to 24 guests.

Is there a bar on board?

Yes, a fully licensed bar with a bartender, and payment is cashless (tap debit or credit). Outside drinks are not allowed, but you are welcome to bring your own food.

Is there a washroom on board?

Yes, every Palapa tiki boat has a toilet on board.

Are children allowed?

Yes, all ages are welcome on daytime cruises. Evening cruises have age limits (for example, no children under 12 at 7 PM and 19+ at 9 PM), so check your city’s page before booking.

What if it rains?

We sail rain or shine under a covered palapa roof. If the captain cancels for wind or storms, you get a reschedule or a credit.

Can I buy a gift card?

Yes. Each city sells gift cards online, so you can give someone a cruise in a couple of minutes.

Can I open a Palapa Tours in my town?

Yes. We are growing through franchises across Canada. See the franchise page for open markets and how it works.
